Started by Joe Persechini, event has been running for 42 years
After two years off during the pandemic, York Region’s longest running fundraiser for children and youth with physical disabilities is back.
Founded by Newmarket resident Joe Persechini, the Upper Canada Easter Seals Run five- and 10-kilometre walk and run and five-kilometre roll takes place May 29 at Riverwalk Commons at 200 Doug Duncan Dr. near Water and Main streets.
Make it a challenge, a leisurely stroll or sponsor someone taking part — it’s all up to you.
The event, which has been running for 42 years, supports Easter Seals Ontario, which is marking 100 years of changing the world for children with disabilities.
Easter Seals Ontario has had a profound impact on the development of treatment, care, services and advocacy initiatives for these young people.
The organization offers life-changing programs that enable kids with physical disabilities to experience greater independence, freedom, and dignity.
